Hello again from ISE 2023! I’m here reporting from Day Two, where I have seen some really great tech! Like yesterday, I spent the majority of my time in halls 2 and 3 (these are where all of the UCC and multitech products are). I’m going to include a lot of that in this piece today, and I will focus on the other halls during the other two days. If you’re new here, this trade show column series used to be called “Steph Says,” but is now known as “The Daily Raff” to match Gary Kayye’s daily trade show newsletter (The Daily Riff).

First, last night I attended BK Johannessen’s keynote all about Unreal Engine and all its possibilities for ProAV. You can check that out below:

I also took a look at Sony’s stand today and honestly, its production studio setup absolutely blew me away. Check out this video Gary posted on LinkedIn for a cool walk-through.

The concept of virtual production is something very much running rampant on the ISE show floor. From VR studios to XR studios and more, it seems like ProAV companies are taking steps to ensure integrators understand the full possibilities of use cases for virtual production.

Epson showed its projectors in an experiential artsy museum setting. Panasonic also went artistic with its projection installation on its stand. However, AVI-SPL opted to show a smaller XR setup for UCC/corporate (you can see some of that during the Jan. 31 episode of rAVe [TV] below).

Finally, this isn’t really a trend just something I was interested in. Take a look at this really awesome use of projection by Barco. At first glance, I thought this was a display. It took me entirely too long to realize it was actually rear projection! Here’s a peek at the RigiFlex and the projector in question.
