Smart Building Conference 2013 to Empower Delegates to Bid for Government Funding

Rick-Holland---photo-1013With just under a week to go before London’s Smart Building Conference 2013, the event’s sponsor roster and program of sessions are complete, presenting delegates with the most formidable package of business and networking opportunities the capital’s intelligent building community has ever seen.

Of the 20 leading industry personalities confirmed to speak on the day, a key highlight is Rick Holland of the Technology Strategy Board. As Lead Technologist at the Board’s Low Impact Buildings Innovation Platform, Rick is charged with launching a competition for £4 million of government funding which is to be allocated to collaborative research into energy-management solutions for existing buildings.

Rick’s SBC session, titled ‘Smart Money for Smart Buildings: The Key to Unlocking Government Funding for Energy Management Initiatives’, will discuss the rationale behind the competition, outline its objectives and give delegates the insights they need to make a successful bid for funding.

“Our competition launches officially on Monday 14 October, the day before the Smart Building Conference, and closes on Nov. 27,” explains Rick. “The timing of the SBC is therefore perfect — delegates will have plenty of time to table a bid once they have attended the event, thereby maximising their chances of success.

“The aim of our competition is to stimulate innovation in the field of energy management, advancing the capabilities of UK business so that they can capture a greater share of UK and global markets. We see the Smart Building Conference as a perfect launch platform and are looking forward to receiving bid applications from delegate consortia of all kinds — whether manufacturer, distributor, installer, consultant or academic, or a mix of any or all of these.”

Other newly confirmed speakers include: Kathy Farrington, communications & security team L=lead at building consultancy firm Norman Disney & Young; Tad Trylski, design director of Light Bureau; Philip Keller, managing director, ESC Digital Media; and Quentin Drewell, smart buildings lead at management consultancy Accenture.

“The Smart Building Conference 2013 will be a defining moment in the development of intelligent building design in the UK,” comments Mike Blackman, managing director, Integrated Systems Events. “With its twin-track program structure, unique mix of speakers and excellent support from sponsors, Tues., Oct. 15 really will be a day not to be missed.”

Seat availability for the event is now limited, but some tickets remain on sale costing €180 + VAT for members of CEDIA or InfoComm International, €250 + VAT for non-members. Companies that register more than two delegates receive a 10 percent discount off each additional registration.

As an added incentive, CEDIA is offering a 20 percent discount off relevant courseware for all delegates if they book their education courses within 12 months of the Conference.
