Pro Audio Technology Updates Five Top-Selling Loudspeakers to Version 2

Pro Audio Technology has announced performance upgrades to five of its best-selling loudspeakers, moving the models to Version 2 through updated drivers, components and higher-resolution digital signal processing.
The updates apply to the LFC-24sm 24-inch subwoofer, the SR-28212ai dual 12-inch full-range surround speaker with internal subwoofer, the S-12sm 12-inch multi-use loudspeaker and its shallow SR-12ai counterpart, and the SR-8ai 8-inch shallow multi-use loudspeaker. All updated models are available to order now.
According to the company, the Version 2 updates are the result of a focused engineering effort to improve existing products rather than expand the lineup. The changes include upgraded transducers and new loudspeaker DSP designed to deliver measurable performance gains.
“In 2025 we took a good look at our line-up of high-performing loudspeakers and instead of asking ‘what else should we make?’ we challenged our engineering team to take our best-selling models to the next level,” said Marc Bertrand, chief strategy officer for Pro Audio Technology. “By leveraging upgraded transducers combined with the highest-resolution loudspeaker processing in the company’s 20-plus year history, 2025 brought substantial, tangible performance enhancements to these models.”
Pro Audio Technology said its development process relies heavily on advanced measurement and modeling tools, including equipment from Klippel, Bruel & Kjaer and Audio Precision. All loudspeakers are developed and optimized using the Klippel Near Field Scanner at the company’s Orange County, California headquarters.
“The SR-28212ai v2 full-range loudspeaker is the most refined speaker PRO has produced to date,” said Paul Hales, CEO of Pro Audio Technology. “We’ve now incorporated the Theory Audio Design 1.7-inch, 16-ohm compression driver. Not only will this update improve on the SR-28212’s remarkable performance, but it also aids in lowering audible system noise floor within large systems where many very high efficiency tweeters may be deployed.”
Hales said the SR-28212ai v2 delivers extended bandwidth, resolution and timbral accuracy in a shallow enclosure, adding that its performance sets a new benchmark for the category.
Pro Audio Technology products use a closed-system DSP approach, with speaker voicing handled through Theory loudspeaker controllers. When voicing improvements are made without component changes, existing installations can receive performance updates via firmware.
“All PRO v2 models are available to order now,” the company said. Additional information is available on the Pro Audio Technology website.
