Valens VA7000 Chipsets Power MIPI A-PHY Platform in D3 Embedded Cameras
Valens announced its VA7000 chipsets are embedded in the MIPI A-PHY platform from D3 Embedded, bringing long-reach, EMI-resilient connectivity to advanced embedded vision systems.
D3’s A-PHY platform supports a range of benefits for system integrators and developers, including electromagnetic interference (EMI) resilience, long cable reach and compatibility with cost-effective cabling. On the compute side, the platform is built around the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX or Nano processors, supporting up to eight A-PHY input ports. It’s also available in an industrial, fanless enclosure. Each port operates at 8Gbps (7.2Gbps net data rate).
For imaging, D3 Embedded offers six A-PHY camera models within its DesignCore Discovery Series, all based on the Sony ISX031 sensor. Each model is available with an IP69K-rated enclosure, providing protection against dust, liquids and chemicals. The rugged cameras feature removable, anti-reflective, scratch-resistant lens covers and are designed for harsh industrial environments. D3 also offers custom camera development with alternative sensors upon request.
The MIPI A-PHY standard supports high-speed data transmission up to 30 meters or more over unshielded twisted pair (UTP) or micro-coaxial cables, maintaining signal integrity in electrically noisy settings. A-PHY chipsets include built-in diagnostics for real-time link monitoring and preventive maintenance, helping to ensure continuous system uptime.
Ideal for robotics, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), industrial automation, medical imaging and other applications, A-PHY-based solutions allow designers to balance bandwidth, cost and mechanical design constraints.
