QSC Leader Retires as Jatan Shah Promoted to President
QSC has officially confirmed the promotion of Jatan Shah to president, a move that was initially announced at the end of 2024. The announcement follows news that Joe Pham, a longtime leader in the AV industry and QSC executive, is retiring.
Pham, who has been with the company for 21 years, announced his departure on LinkedIn, expressing gratitude to QSC employees. His retirement comes five months after he led QSC’s $1.2 billion acquisition by Acuity Brands, a deal in which he was named chairman and CEO. Now, he is stepping away entirely, leaving leadership in Shah’s hands — a role Shah has technically been filling for over a year.
“Jatan has made a tremendous impact on QSC and the AV industry, working smartly with leaders across QSC to build new capabilities, increase scale, and guide many strategic initiatives to success across our growing multinational organization,” Pham said. “His persistence, patience, and vision have not only guided our company but also our people to become stronger and more resilient. Jatan exemplifies the company’s core values, which guide our thinking and actions, and is the ideal person to help lead QSC into its next chapter of success.”
Jatan Shah’s Journey at QSC
Shah joined QSC in 2010 as chief financial officer and has since taken on additional responsibilities across the business. Most recently, he served as executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief technology officer, overseeing product strategy, development, operations, finance and IT. He also currently serves on the AVIXA board, helping shape the future of the association and the ProAV industry. Before joining QSC, Shah held senior positions at McKinsey & Company.
“QSC is an amazing place to collaborate and create,” Shah said. “With some of the most capable and groundbreaking technology in the industry, combined with a talented and innovative group of individuals, we have been able to bring new products, solutions, and services to market. As we enter a new year, I look forward to continuing work with Joe, our executive team, and our founders to deliver on the promise of QSC, capture new opportunities for our employees, partners, and customers, and continue to guide our company as we explore the many opportunities ahead in the markets and applications we serve.”
Joe Pham’s Legacy
Pham joined QSC in 2004 as chief strategy and technology officer before being promoted to chief operating officer in 2007 and president and CEO in 2010. Under his leadership, QSC expanded its presence in the professional AV industry, developed innovative audio and video solutions, and played a key role in shaping the company’s long-term strategy.
In addition to his contributions at QSC, Pham has been a leader in the AV industry, serving as chairman of the board at AVIXA and president of the Professional Audio Manufacturers Association (PAMA). He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from UCLA, where he also served as a professor, specializing in state-space control systems, adaptive signal processing, and wavelet theory.
Pham’s LinkedIn post announcing his retirement reflected his appreciation for the team at QSC, stating, “I am soooooooo grateful for every single person at QSC! YOU have been the heart and soul of our company, making each day of these 21 years filled with joy.”
As QSC enters this new chapter under Shah’s leadership, the company looks to build on its foundation of innovation and continue expanding its impact in the ProAV industry.
