Plugable Introduces the Second-Generation of its Flagship USB-C Triple Display Docking Station
Redmond, Wash. – June 21, 2022 – Plugable, a leading computer accessories company for both home and work spaces, announces a major redesign of the UD-ULTC4K, a consumer favorite from Plugable since 2017. Based on more than five years of user feedback, the USB-C docking station has been rebuilt from the ground up, adding plenty of new features and improved specs, while still providing three additional 4K displays to compatible laptops.
The upgraded UD-ULTC4K is available now on Amazon.com for $279.00 with a $15 off coupon.
Flexible Expansion
Plugable’s USB-C triple 4K display docking station provides a simple solution for extending your laptop’s screen to three high-resolution displays. Originally a mix of two DisplayPort ports and one HDMI port, Plugable wanted to improve the customer experience in which users don’t need to buy extra adapters when building a workstation at home or in the office. The new strategic design includes three DisplayPort ports and three HDMI ports, allowing consumers the option of standardizing on one display type, or use a mix of both. Whichever you choose—HDMI or DisplayPort—you’ll get resolutions up to 4K @ 60Hz on all three monitors.
The dock features an innovative mix of DisplayPort over USB-C Alternate Mode (Alt Mode) and DisplayLink technologies pioneered by Plugable. It allows the benefits of Alt Mode (Native GPU performance) with the flexibility of DisplayLink (Add additional displays, beyond what your system natively supports). By tapping into the potential provided by DisplayLink Technology, you’ll get 4K resolutions on all three screens no matter what USB-C enabled laptop you’re using.
All-in-One Docking Station
The comprehensive collection of ports delivers functionality well beyond extending screens. Featuring an upgrade from 60W to now 100W Power Delivery (96W certified), the UD-ULTC4K provides enough power to charge most laptops, while, for the first time on a Plugable USB-C dock, they added a front-facing USB-C port that supplies 20W charging and 10Gbps data transfer for faster charging and more bandwidth.
With 13 total ports, users will find their other connection needs met with a complement of four USB 3.0 ports, a newly added SD 4.0 UHS-II Card Reader, a wired Gigabit Ethernet port, and audio input and output ports. This docking station is a one-stop shop for all peripherals users may need, all connected through a single cable back to the laptop.
Mac and Windows Compatibility
Compatible with Windows 10, 11, or macOS 11+, 12+ and later, the UD-ULTC4K delivers resolutions up to 4K with a 60Hz refresh rate when paired with compatible host laptops—including M1 Macs and other laptops that natively support only one external display. Testing is needed to confirm, but Plugable anticipates similar results when paired with M2-powered Macs. While the UD-ULTC4K is a USB-C docking station, it is also compatible with USB4, Thunderbolt 4, and Thunderbolt 3.
