HBO to Allow Subscribers, Without Cable

I like to modest, but every now and again, I have to say “I told you so.”  Earlier this year, I wrote about how the WWE Network was taking the first step into the future of Television, and how we consume our entertainment.

Now, a much bigger company, HBO has joined the fray.  Today, HBO announced that in 2015, they will allow people to subscribe who are not current cable subscribers.  A lot was left unsaid, like exactly what the service will be like, and how much it will cost.  However, they clearly stated that they needed to go after the 10 million internet-only households, who do not currently subscribe to cable.

In my previous article,  I wrote that I predicted HBO would be the next one to allow subscribers to go internet only.  I think one of the first signs of this was when they declared they did not care if you shared your password for HBO GO.  Why?  Because they wanted to get a whole bunch of people addicted to shows like “Game of Thrones”!  And they did.

Now, I predict this will suddenly become a race.  Who can get services up running faster and better, and create the best business model.  I can not wait!
