AV Insider Spotlight : Blessing Joseph, Country Manager- India, Vega Global

Each week, I am highlighting on some of the incredible people who are in the Audio Video Industry. As this blog is mostly about AV insiders, today we are profiling Blessing Joseph .

Here is a brief intro about him.

Blessing Joseph - AV Insider SpotlightBlessing Joseph has worked in the Audiovisual industry for over 10 years. He is currently director and country manager of Vega Global for India.

Please drop your questions in the comments below and I will make sure that he sees them.

Wow, this is an interesting question for me, I recollect that It started off from…being an engineering graduate trainee being selected through a campus interview with the next day of my final semester exam joining my job beginning to install Compaq Presario high end home PC’s and then configuring windows NT servers, Unix servers, Linux servers, installing Network routers and then configuring video capture cards with colour Doppler’s and MRI scanners for critical lifesaving applications and that brought me the interest in to AV through my exposure to R&D..ing those Pinnacle and Snazzy cards in professional IT/AV environments, that’s where I begin.

Having said that I did incubate the AV practice in large conglomerates in India which was very apparent before my current profile with the largest AV service provide in APAC.

2.What do you think is the challenges that are facing a new person who wants to join the industry.

It’s definitely the lack of AV education which is still not very much through the schools and colleges in our region but have been only through experience so far.

3.What are the positives of working in this industry.

When I started my career in AV it was just to do with Multimedia projectors demonstration lining up with comparing the brightness and colours to convince the customers for their presentations however today it’s something which is mandate to run business as usual with a mandate to integrate with their IT infra, In my personal opinion I started off my career in AV industry with a compensation of INR 8000 per month but today its USD XXX000, however when I say this it is vitally important that being the most passionate is the most imperative to sustain in this industry to what I have grown professionally today.

4.What in your opinion would you change in the industry? What are the negatives that are prevalent ?

It would definitely be the scarce in Quality Customer service is what I would want to change in this industry which has been a challenge at this point for most global customers who are expanding their presence here in our region and haven’t been able to enjoy the uniform quality services that they expect as mandate which they enjoy in the other regions especially in those of U.S and U.K’s AV veterans of the world, and with the role that I am playing in my current organization we have been very successful in demonstrating and meeting the expectations on global quality standards to those global customers who expect this as their mandate standard and wanting to be high performance driven and thus they are exclusive with us in wanting our services,

Indeed the negative part will only be the local so called consultants and project management agencies who are desperate in buying our AV business from Customers and system integrators and this is really going to be a challenge and threat to the quality services that a qualified integrator can offer to their customers, with me I refrain my participation in these areas as usual.

5.Describe your ideal client? What do you wish clients to know before hiring you.

Again, this is a very good question, We are very selective in identifying our clients limited to who has an average knowledge to the AV services that is being expected by their BAU /Other functions and that would help us to educate them more on recommending them with the best solution practices which will provide them with a ROI and of course if this is not being approached on a lowest cost criteria which is very important, We strive hard to work with and educate our customers on an affordable quality and cost effective solutions but not the cheapest one which is not in our platter to offer.

6.If you were going to start over, what would you do differently ?

I have always been a King Maker and never wanted to be a King, I am truly passionate about it and let me make as many kings as possible in this business and industry with my leadership but with quality delivered to customers for sure, I have no plan to start over on my own at this point.

7.Describe a typical work day for you. What are your daily disciplines?

Definitely I start my day with responding to emails in the early morning and a 5 KM cycling at least with my Fire Fox Target, an hour of bath and dressing up before I show up to my battle in the field and it’s obvious that the industry knows about by personality, and I am very strict and serious about it, just on the side I see my company’s Bank balance as well, It has been a mantra that meeting 2 customers a day and at least speaking with 20 customers on phone which will end my day happily though it wasn’t always fiat,

8.Describe the apps and gear that you use daily which makes you more productive?

WhatsApp groups, Cisco Jabber/Acano, Blue Jeans and LinkedIn are my important tools however Microsoft Lync/Business skype and Outlook are my most important tools that I cannot live without it, Having said that I mostly enjoy the meeting over through my DX80 in my cabin (Thanks to Cisco).

9. Describe the expertise that your team brings to a project.

Indeed, Ownership and commitment on quality deliverables has been a true spirited attitude that our team brings to a project, It’s all about going above and beyond in our service is what it means, Indeed thanks to our customers who have been demanding this and which has made us today as a largest player in the market.
