Sales of professional PTZ cameras will grow a steady 37 percent by 2021, as companies from across the broadcast, pro video and AV spectrum look for alternative, cost-effective ways to produce video, finds Futuresource Consulting in its latest Professional PTZ Camera Market Overview Report.

Global volumes grew 5 percent to reach 108,840 units in 2016 with demand spread across a growing number of traditional and non-traditional verticals. The market has continued to shift to the $2,000 to $3,500 price band, with almost half of total PTZ camera volumes accounted for by this category, making it the largest price segment for the first time.

In terms of connectivity, IP, HDMI and SDI all increased their volume shares in FY2016, as the average number of ports per device increased, due to vendors trying to ensure products are suitable for as many verticals as possible.

Futuresource forecasts that the global market will grow by 37 percent to reach 149,440 units by 2021.
