New model motorized over the fireplace TV mount – much smaller, lighter, and easier to install
Santa Monica, California – July 1, 2013 – As the former owner of a custom installation company, Joseph Lee knew the importance of manufacturers listening to installer feedback. Dealer response to the ComfortVu mount was overwhelmingly positive as they finally had a solution for the problem of too high over the fireplace TV mounting. On their wish list, however, was a smaller mount with concealed mechanics.
Lee listened to his dealers and incorporated their requests into his new design. The new model offers a significantly reduced front and side profile, with a small span-like form visible when the TV is in the lowered position. The motor, control box, and lag bolts are concealed for a more finished look. At 39 pounds, the new mount is light enough for any solo installer to mount on the wall. The center of the wall mount was eliminated to afford greater flexibility when locating the power and signal cables. What hasn’t changed, however, is the mount’s capacity: The ComfortVu fireplace TV mount still fits most 55” to 90” TV’s and holds up to 190 lbs, and will, with the press of a button, automatically move a large TV down 34”and forward 25 “ to the perfect viewing position.
“Americans watch 250 billion hours of TV annually,” said Joseph Lee, inventor and President of ComfortVu, LLC. “So many of them are uncomfortable doing so because their flatscreens are mounted too high on the wall, especially those placed above fireplaces. They tolerate the discomfort because they aren’t aware of an alternative. But now there is one,” Lee added.
Gamers, too, will welcome this change to their play. Even if their TV’s are mounted at a comfortable TV viewing height, they will now be able to sit on the floor, looking directly into the world their games have created.
According to Nielsen Media Research’s latest report, the average American household watches 8 ¼ hours of television in a 24-hour period. The average amount of time per individual is about 4 ½ hours. Holding one’s head at a 25% angle for even a few minutes is uncomfortable, but sitting like this for hours is unbearable. Americans spend a huge percentage of their day watching television; that’s unlikely to change. What this new fireplace TV mount allows for, however, is spending this time in greater comfort.
The mount comes fully assembled, along with a remote control and all mounting hardware. Made in the USA, it has a 5-year warranty.
