Welcome to my roundup of the latest updates to Microsoft Copilot, the company’s virtual AI assistant, as of May 2024. In this article, I will highlight a few updates to Copilot that I consider to be most helpful to those in the AV industry. I will also include the full list of updates at the bottom of this article for your perusal.

With that being said, here are some of the coolest Microsoft Copilot updates of May 2024:

Microsoft Purview AI Hub
The newly added AI Hub in Microsoft Purview is designed to support organizations’ risk and compliance requirements for AI applications, including Copilot and other third-party apps. AI Hub allows administrators to monitor key security points, such as sensitive data shared with Copilot and the number of users interacting with Copilot and their associated risk levels. This is important as we continue to raise concerns about the security implications of using artificial intelligence in the workplace.

Copilot Extensions
Extensions within Copilot now allow new actions and customized knowledge for grounding. The extensions can be built using Copilot connectors, plugins and the organization’s own Copilot. I personally worry that the average person might find the extensions difficult to create, but if you’re up for the challenge, I think Copilot extensions have exciting implications for the ability to automate more and more mundane housekeeping tasks within an organization. This can free up employees to dedicate more time to higher-level tasks.

Viva Glint
Administrators can now act on employee comments and suggestions instantly with Viva Glint. Viva Glint can summarize, explore and act on thousands of comments, saving time from manually analyzing feedback from employees. Microsoft says this feature is designed to allow organizations to put their employees’ insights to work even faster.

Copilot Can Help Boost Response Rates in Forms
In order to boost response rates to forms, Copilot will now automatically send emails to form owners about response rates and give proactive follow-up recommendations. After adequate responses, Copilot can generate prompts to review form insights to help you make the most of your data.
