LAVNCH WEEK 7 Digital Signage Day: It’s Over Already?
With the conclusion of Digital Signage Day comes the bittersweet reality that tomorrow is our last day of LAVNCH WEEK 7, and today is my last LAVNCH WEEK recap for a while (I know, I’m just as upset about it as you are, but Steph says I have to share the spotlight). Like the last two days, today was full of educational sessions, product introductions and insightful conversations with industry experts.
Here’s a quick recap of the day, but as I say in all of my recaps, this is just that. A recap. If you want the full experience and the endless educational opportunities LAVNCH WEEK 7 provides, you need to watch it on demand (and I highly suggest you do):
Our first session was “Meet Videri — The Digital Signage Company You Didn’t Know That You Already Knew” with Gary Kayye and Rolf Carlson. The two discussed Videri‘s digital displays, including their energy efficiency and cloud connection. One of the most impressive parts of the technology to me was how easily Rolf lifted up the display!
What do you think of @VideriDigital, #AVtweeps? Check out how lightweight the screen is!
"We're the thinnest, most energy-efficient on the market." – Rolf Carlson

Then we segued to a panel with Steph Beckett, Matt Nurre, Andrea Varrone and Dane Oldridge. The main topic of conversation was how the use of digital signage could improve the retail experience for customers. A big question was what opportunities are there that could create more engaging digital signage.
“We will see a lot of integrated EV charging with DOOH and digital signage advertising content in the future. It’s a great way to capture an audience while they are charging their cars.” – Dane Oldridge
Next was a short discussion between Megan A. Dutta, David Defelici and Ido Aviram. The trio discussed the partnership between YCD Multimedia and Telecine Multimedia and what we can expect from them in the future. With more product introductions and updates, both companies are committed to providing financial institutions digital signage solutions that are FDC approved.
Gary then LAVNCHED (see what I did there) into his Digital Signage Update session. He was joined by Carrie Leigh Garcia, George A. Borden and Bradford Benn for a conversation on the latest digital signage trends and how they’ll impact the future of the industry. One interesting question Gary raised was how to make audio a part of digital signage in public venues. I’d tell you what the panelists answered with, but that would take the fun out of you watching the on-demand session.
Steph took center stage again, but this time with Peerless-AV‘s Kevin McDonald. The two discussed the current state of digital signage and how the company’s products play in the space. Kevin also briefly mentioned the company’s new dvLED video wall integration program, SEAMLESS.
What are some reasons to choose dvLED over LCD, #AVtweeps? According to Kevin McDonald:

Then, it was back to Megan for the “Planes, Trains and Digital Signage” session with Chris Freeman, Lindsey Wall, Paul J. Fleuranges and Todd Green. Over the course of 45 minutes, these industry experts covered everything from the tech to the content when it comes to digital signage in transportation venues.
“We sell digital drywall. That’s how we need to start thinking about digital signage in the future. It needs to be part of the “building materials” and part of the build at the beginning.” – Todd Green
Finally, we ended the day with an amazing session from WAVIT. For those of you that don’t know, today is International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity. Megan was joined by two incredible women in the industry, Brandy Alvarado-Miranda and Althea Ricketts, to discuss how to challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias and seek out inclusion. They stressed an important fact that I hope all #AVtweeps remember — women deserve a seat at the table.
To kick off our panel with @WomeninAVIT, @MeganADutta asked our speakers what #EmbraceEquity means to them.
"To me, it means a world where our differences are valued and celebrated." – @AVBrandy

Just like that, Digital Signage Day is over, along with my blog squad debut. Make sure you tune in tomorrow for ProAV Day (the FINAL day of LAVNCH WEEK 7) and watch the other three on demand. Until next time!
