KEF Ci200TRb: An 8” In-Wall Subwoofer With An Amazing 50mm Mounting Depth

216x254_ci200trb_0Marlboro, NJ – KEF continues to expand their family of ultra-thin architectural speakers with the release of the Ci200TRb – an 8” dual-voice coil subwoofer with a mere 50mm (1.96”) mounting depth. Joining our thinnest ever in-ceiling speakers, the Ci160TR and the Ci160TS, both boasting a mounting depth of a 36mm (1.4”), KEF has a high-fidelity architectural solution for even the most challenging design environment.

For extreme flexibility when designing a sound system with architectural speakers, the Ci200TRb has two operational modes.

In passive mode, a single Ci200TRb can be wired in parallel with a set of KEF Ci speakers for added low-frequency response and emphasis, or you can use 2 Ci200TRb subwoofers with a pair of KEF Ci speakers for even more low-end emphasis. In passive mode, the low-frequency response matches the response of a passive 8” Ci speaker. Using even our smallest in-ceiling speakers – Ci50R, Ci80.2QR and CI100QR – the Ci200TRb gives a remarkable bass response to any architectural sound system. Now you can achieve the sleek, stylish look you want in your whole-house sound system without compromising sound quality.

In active mode, the Ci200TRb is used with KEF’s 250WPC Class-D DSP KASA500 systems amp to produce thunderous low-frequency extension that exceeds anything you thought possible from a driver less than 2” thick. In active mode, two Ci200TRb subwoofers are wired to one side of the KASA500, allowing you to use four Ci200TRb’s per KASA500 amp.

The Ci200TRb also features KEF’s Ultra-Thin Bezel (UTB) technology which offers the thinnest possible visible rim around the speaker assembly. With the speaker grilles in place the Ci200TRb is indistinguishable from other KEF architectural speakers, giving installers and designers and amazing amount of freedom-of-placement even in the most challenging design environments.

All KEF Ci architectural speakers, including the Ci200TRb, are manufactured to Marine Grade Construction standards: The grilles are coated via a proprietary process, the speakers include moisture-resistant terminations and finish materials, and the plastics are UV protected. The Ci200TRb has been built to withstand harsh salt-spray and humid environments, allowing you to safely use these speakers in applications other speakers in its price-range simply cannot be considered for.

KEF’s Ci200TRb can be used in any environment for any sound application – restricted behind-wall cavities, or marine and RV systems for example – providing an amazing amount of placement freedom and audio fidelity for any sound system.
