Draper Adds Solar Panels to Expanded Facility, Cuts Energy Use by 40%
Draper has completed the installation of solar panels on its newly expanded 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, a move the company says is reducing its reliance on purchased electricity by 40%.
The solar installation was part of a broader effort to offset the increased energy demand and environmental impact associated with the 2023 expansion of its U.S.-based operations. In addition to the solar panels, Draper implemented an energy monitoring and control system designed to cut usage during off-hours by powering down major systems — such as lighting, air compressors and HVAC — in unused areas.
The company says it also continues to apply Lean Manufacturing principles to minimize waste and improve efficiency across its operations.
Further updates on Draper’s sustainability efforts are expected later this year.
