Bryston Debuts Preamplifier
Bryston’s new BP17 is a hybrid analog/digital stereo preamplifier derived from the preamp portion of the B-135 integrated amplifier. With a list price of $3,550, the BP17 can be ordered in four configurations: in its standard form, with an optional moving magnet phono stage, with a high resolution internal DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) or fully loaded with both the DAC and phono stage. The BP17 includes provisions for six stereo RCA inputs (four with DAC option), one stereo RCA output, one stereo tape loop and a headphone output. The Bryston BR2 remote, made from a machined aluminum block, is available as an option.
It’s RS232- or IR-controllable, includes two SPDIF inputs, has a frequency response spec of 20Hz – 20kHz +/- .05dB and includes two quick-connect 12 Volt output triggers (one is programmable). The preamplifier is not on Bryson’s website yet since it’s new. When it is, it will be here: http://www.bryston.com/
