Barix Adds SRT Support to LX400 Audio Over IP Codec
Barix has added SRT support to its LX400 broadcast-specific encoder/decoder, giving customers a third IP transport option tailored for live broadcast and production. Available soon via a board-level upgrade, the LX400 now supports SRT alongside Barix’s standard RTP-based STL firmware and Reflector Evo cloud networking service. Optional SRT encoding is now available, with SRT decoding expected later this year.
The addition of SRT connectivity offers near-zero latency for live broadcast streams requiring real-time AM, FM, and/or online delivery. The SRT protocol is widely adopted in the broadcast and production industry for its secure, reliable transport of low-latency audio and video over public IP networks.
The LX400 also includes end-to-end delay control for RTP streaming and stream redundancy modes for STL applications, whether in standard firmware or with the Reflector Evo service.
Barix has also added SRT encoding to its MultiCoder M400 device. Introduced last year, the MultiCoder is a low-latency IP encoding solution that serves multiple audio formats from a single device. It can encode audio into four formats—OPUS, AAC+, PCM, and 320 kbps MP3—and send multiple RTP/BRTP streams to receivers with minimal delay and high audio quality. SRT encoding is available via the device’s v1.7 update.
