Barix AudioPoint Updates Hearing Loop System; Focuses on HOW Market

Barix has updated its AudioPoint audio-to-mobile streaming platform for houses of worship. AudioPoint uses a Wi-Fi-based system that is simpler than a hearing loop infrastructure, requiring only one wired and wireless connection to transmit low-latency, multichannel audio streams to parishioners connected to the network. It is also significantly more affordable than a hearing loop system, potentially saving churches tens of thousands of dollars.

AudioPoint’s encoding hardware provides two different mono channels for unicast streaming to mobile phones, supporting up to 250 simultaneous streams. The compact AudioPoint encoder connects to a mixer or computer via a wired connection and to the Wi-Fi network wirelessly. Audiences can use the free Barix AudioPoint app on iOS or Android devices to stream live audio to their phones. A QR code inside the facility allows them to connect and select from available channels.

For worship events that include video, AudioPoint’s low-latency technology streams audio in real time, ensuring synchronization with visuals. Parishioners can choose between audio channels in the app if multiple languages are available.

AudioPoint is a cost-effective option for worship facilities with limited technology budgets. The $500 system is far more affordable than hearing loop systems, which can cost up to $35,000 and require cabling to support the magnetic field needed for a telecoil connection.
