New XJ-S35 From Casio Just 1.7 Inches Thin

This thin craze reminds me of the late-1990s when Sony and NEC were battling it out for the thinnest laptop computer. Eventually, it was determined size didn’t matter as much as they all thought as the market leaders are all, for the most part, selling the middle-grade weight and size laptop (i.e. 4-6 pounds and 1-1.5 thin).

But in projection, this battle still wages and Casio wants their projector to fit in the laptop case with the computer in there too. The new XJ-S35 DLP projector from Casio measures just 10.6” x 1.7” x 7.8” and weighs less than four pounds, yet it is specified at 2000 ANSI lumens, up to 1800:1 contrast ratio, and XGA 1024 x 768 resolution, and it has a 2X wide-angle zoom lens.

The wireless technology allows up to four laptops to share the projector, and it’s actually designed to work with the Exilim EX-S770 Digital Camera, which has a data storage feature that lets users convert any document (such as PowerPoint) into JPEGs and connect the camera directly to the projector. No PC needed.

The company is kicking off the launch of the Super Slim line with a sweepstakes, where you can win these products. The sweepstakes will run until November 30th.

The projector is available at various retail and ProAV companies. We found it priced at $1424.99 at Circuit City.
