Renowned Outdoor Lighting Designer Tim Ryan of Lighthouse Design Studio Lends His Expertise at Lightovation 2026

Tim Ryan, executive director and principal designer of Lighthouse Design Studio, a nationwide leader in outdoor lighting design and installation, will share his expertise at Lightovation 2026 (Dallas Market Center, January 10-13). Under Ryan’s direction, Lighthouse has amassed over thirty-five awards from leading design and engineering organizations. Drawing on this experience, Ryan will provide valuable perspectives.
Lightovation’s Exteriorscape outdoor lighting display (on the 3rd floor of Dallas Trade Mart atrium) showcases premier architectural, landscape, and pathway lighting across ten brands. This exhibit gives interior designers, architects, and builders direct access to the latest trends, materials, and technologies shaping outdoor lighting today.
On January 10 (Exteriorscape Saturday), panel discussions will highlight how current trends and client needs are influencing exterior lighting solutions. Ryan will participate in the 1 PM session, Latest Landscape Lighting Trends (TM 4th Floor, Elevator Lobby), with Dan Houchard (principal, Houchard Design Group) and C. Webster Marsh (controls designer, Sladen Feinstein Integrated Lighting). Moderated by Dawn Hollingsworth of Darkhorse Lightworks, topics include:
• The latest developments in LED technology
• Best uses for color-changing design schemes
• Strengths and weaknesses of various control options
• The different market channels & how increased competition is impacting professional practices
• Environmental concerns for maintaining dark skies and plant/animal health
“These topics matter because they help us, as designers, integrate innovative technologies and methods to best serve end-users and their communities,” says Ryan. He also serves on industry boards, lectures frequently, and is currently assisting in creating Dark-Sky lighting standards for municipalities. (Dark-Sky lighting, central to the Dark-Sky Movement, aims to promote responsible lighting practices.)
At 2 PM, Ryan will lead the Exteriorscape: Outdoor Lighting Exhibitor Tour (TM 4 Elevator Lobby) through Lightovation’s vast one million square feet of exhibits, spotlighting six notable landscape and architectural products and technologies. The one-hour tour concludes back at the Exteriorscape display (3rd floor, elevator lobby), followed by a picnic where attendees can meet Ryan.
“Outdoor lighting plays a vital role in enhancing nighttime enjoyment for homeowners and their communities,” says Laura Van Zeyl, Vice President of Marketing for Lightovation at Dallas Market Center. “We’re excited for Tim Ryan to provide important insights during our CEU-accredited panel and introduce new product innovations throughout his tour.”
