Panasonic Adds AI Framing on PTZ Cameras for ProAV and Broadcast
Panasonic Connect announced a new auto-framing feature for its PTZ cameras, offering automated video content for broadcasting and production. The feature will be available as a paid plug-in, Advanced Auto Framing, for Panasonic’s Media Production Suite starting in Q2 2025. Select auto-framing features will also be available free of charge for the AW-UE160W/K PTZ camera via firmware and software updates in Q1 2025.
The new solution integrates technologies like auto-tracking, image recognition, and natural framing, providing precise camera framing for improved efficiency and high-quality video.
The paid Advanced Auto Framing plug-in, activated with a software key, will support Panasonic PTZ cameras, including the AW-UE160W/K, AW-UE150W/K, AW-UE100W/K, and AW-UE80W/K. It allows for multi-camera setups to improve subject detection and accuracy. Facial recognition technology ensures optimal framing of specific individuals.
For the AW-UE160W/K, the free auto-framing feature uses the camera’s internal processor for subject detection, with framing commands managed by the Media Production Suite. The feature works on any PC meeting the software’s basic requirements.
Advanced Auto Framing enables professional-level framing in real time, using user-defined presets, including multi-subject shots. Human body detection maintains consistent headroom, making it easier to capture high-quality content.
The graphical interface (GUI) aligns with the Media Production Suite for intuitive operation. The plug-in’s multi-camera display simplifies management of multiple PTZ cameras, enabling control from a single screen, even with limited staff.
The auto-framing feature is compatible with Panasonic’s AW-RP150GJ and AW-RP60GJ remote controllers, allowing for fine-tuning of camera angles. Camera selection can also be synchronized with auto-framing in the Media Production Suite, streamlining the switch between automatic and manual framing.
