LG Electronics USA has introduced a 31.5-inch 4K surgical monitor (model 32HR734S) designed for use in operating rooms and surgical centers. The display uses Mini LED technology and includes features to improve image clarity, color reproduction and mounting flexibility.

The monitor features 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, 1,500 local dimming zones and 98 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. LG says the monitor can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 cd/m² and a dynamic contrast ratio up to 1,000,000:1.

Weighing 21.3 pounds, the display is designed to mount on surgical arms and booms. It includes anti-glare, anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint coatings, as well as an IK06 rating for physical impact resistance and ingress protection against liquids. LG’s Optical Bonding technology is used to reduce internal reflections by eliminating air gaps between the backlight, module and protective glass.

The model also includes a new feature called Clone Screen, which allows the image to be duplicated onto a second monitor via HDMI for improved visibility in multi-viewer surgical environments.
