Genetec Releases AutoVu Plug-in to Enhance ALPR-Based Investigations

Genetec Inc. has launched a new plug-in for its Security Center platform designed to enhance forensic search capabilities using automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) data.

The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plug-in includes two main features: cohort analysis and time and speed analysis. Both are designed to help law enforcement and investigators identify suspect vehicles more quickly by analyzing behavior patterns.

“This plugin gives investigators what they need to close cases faster,” said Steve Hins, product group manager for ALPR at Genetec. “With just a few clicks, they can spot patterns and behaviors in vehicle data that would otherwise take hours or days to uncover manually.”

The Cohort Analysis feature allows investigators to find vehicles that frequently appear in close proximity to a known license plate, potentially identifying accomplices or coordinated activity. Investigators can select relevant ALPR cameras, input a license plate of interest, and define a time window to find vehicles that frequently appear nearby.

The Time and Speed Analysis tool compares the travel speed of vehicles between two ALPR cameras, allowing investigators to identify outliers — such as vehicles fleeing a scene. Investigators define the time frame and location, and the system generates a report showing estimated speeds of all vehicles that passed between the selected cameras.

The plug-in is available globally as a paid add-on through Genetec’s network of accredited channel partners.
