KD-XUSB2 offers reliable extension on 2.0 devices including KD-CAMUSB up to 50m

MOUNT VERNON, NY – December 2, 2020 – Key Digital, the award-winning manufacturer of professional AV and control systems, invites dealers, integrators, and installers to explore the KD-XUSB2 USB 2.0 extender kit released earlier this year. This transmitter and receiver kit optimizes extension of high bandwidth USB 1.1 – 2.0 devices including Key Digital’s KD-CAMUSB PTZ USB camera up to 50m, making it perfect for integration in conference rooms, classrooms, business offices, houses of worship, and connected homes.

“Key Digital’s drive to engineer a dependable and competitively priced USB 2.0 extender came from our own search for such a product. We needed a high-quality extension system to accompany our KD-CAMUSB professional USB camera at further distances, and in true Key Digital fashion we ultimately decided that our engineers could create a product to outshine the competition. We offer the user-friendly KD-XUSB2 with the proven reliability that comes with Key Digital products at a price point designed to please,” said Jonathon Ferry, National Training Manager for Key Digital.

“Adding the USB signal layer to our Presentation Solutions lineup has been absolutely huge for our products and the systems that we build. Of course, USB has released the 3.0 standard, but Key Digital sat alongside our integrators in our desire for an improvement in the USB 2.0 spec. With the release of KD-XUBS2, Key Digital delivers the needed distance performance and reliability to add conferencing cameras, mic and speaker combos, and keyboard and mouse devices reliably to professional systems,” said Masha Lakhter, COO of Key Digital.

The plug-and-play KD-XUSB2 and KD-CAMUSB require no driver software and are instantly up and running once plugged in. Our KD-CAM free advanced software is availble and offers additional video control options when paired with the KD-CAMUSB. Both the extender and camera are compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux machines.

With the KD-CAMUSB, users may store and recall up to 255 presets, with up to 12 presets accessed via the intuitive and ergonomic IR remote control on home, privacy, and numeric buttons for quick and easy viewing of the desired room perspectives and participants, while also adjusting to Home and Privacy settings within a single button press.

Mounting the KD-XUSB2 at tables, desks, or walls is made simple and easy with the unit’s compact size and built-in L bracket chassis design. KD-CAMUSB includes wall and ceiling mounting hardware and may also be table surface mounted.

KD-XUSB2 supports low, full, and high data transfer speeds up to 480Mbps. The kit enables host laptops, computers, smart TVs, and appliances to connect with devices such as web cams, keyboard and mouse, hard drives, printers and scanners, USB microphones, touchscreen displays, conferencing DSPs, and more.

The unit’s transmitter has one USB-B connection and the unit’s receiver features two USB-A ports which may also connect to a USB hub for up to 15 supported devices.

The extender kit is backward compatible supporting USB versions 1.1 through 2.0 with USB signal extension up to 50m (164ft) via single CAT5e/6 cable. The receiver may be powered by the transmitter which requires a power connection using Power over Cat (PoC). By utilizing the built-in USB device-powering feature, the receiver may provide 5V 500mA power to a secondary connected device.

The KD-XUSB2 joins Key Digital’s extensive line of Presentation Solutions hardware and software ecosystem.
