Kaleidescape announced the release of the Mini Terra Prime, a compact solid-state movie server designed to deliver high-performance playback and fast movie downloads for residential cinemas. The new unit expands the company’s Terra Prime line and is sized to match Kaleidescape’s Strato M and E movie players.

“Mini Terra Prime is Kaleidescape’s most compact movie server, but it delivers a mighty punch: fast downloads, high performance playback, and ample storage,” said Tayloe Stansbury, chairman and CEO of Kaleidescape. “It is the perfect complement for Kaleidescape M and E reference-quality movie players.”

The server includes 8 terabytes of internal solid-state storage, enough to hold approximately 125 Kaleidescape 4K titles. Connected via 2.5-gigabit Ethernet, the system can download a movie in as little as four minutes. It also supports up to 25 simultaneous playbacks, enabling larger systems to stream multiple titles at once without quality degradation.

Mini Terra Prime is built with architectural-grade steel and a mosaic vent pattern for passive cooling, allowing silent operation without an internal fan. The unit can sit in any room or be rack mounted alongside Strato M or E players for unified installation.

Kaleidescape movie downloads are significantly larger than streaming versions, preserving lossless audio and near-lossless video sourced from studio masters. Storing and playing movies locally ensures consistent, high-quality playback. Adding a Terra Prime server to a standalone Strato V, E or M player also unlocks Kaleidescape’s enhanced user interface, including list view and the platform’s cover shuffle mode for larger libraries.

Up to four Terra-series servers can be combined in a single Kaleidescape system, along with any number of Strato movie players, for expanded storage and scalability.

Mini Terra Prime is available now through authorized Kaleidescape dealers.
