Kaleidescape has introduced the Strato E, an entry-level 4K movie player designed for residential, marine and commercial theater systems. The new model supports 4K video with SDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision, along with lossless multi-channel and spatial audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

Strato E functions as a standalone playback system, storing approximately six movies on an internal solid-state drive. It downloads content in about 10 minutes over gigabit Ethernet and automatically offloads watched movies after 48 hours to free up storage. Previously purchased movies can be re-downloaded at any time.

Users can expand storage by pairing Strato E with Kaleidescape’s Terra Prime movie servers. All Kaleidescape movie players include access to the Kaleidescape movie store, which offers thousands of movies in 4K and HD for purchase or rental. Movies are downloaded, not streamed, to preserve quality and eliminate buffering.
