I Don’t Care About Apple Music*

apple music

As an avid and voracious music lover you’d think that I’d be a prime candidate to sign up for Apple Music.

But you would be wrong, and I’ll tell you why.

Regardless of the fact that my music collection is hopelessly intertwined with iTunes Apple Music holds no interest for me.

The reason is simple:

I do the vast majority of my music listening in my car.

And, more often than not, that music listening is being done in the middle of nowhere, on the highway between East Nowhere, Alberta and West Nowhere.

I have zero desire to burn through my monthly mobile data plan with streaming music.

The main motivation for getting a 128GB iPhone 6 last Fall was to be able to fit the Lion’s Share of my music collection (200GB, last time I checked) on my phone.

On long drives, playing on shuffle via Bluetooth to my car’s stereo the hits just keep on coming.

To be fair, my disinterest isn’t solely focused on Apple Music, but on all streaming music services.

It might be different if I mostly listened to music while sitting at my desk, which seems to be the common point of all my friends who are fans of Apple Music, Pandora, Tidal, etc: they all work at their desk all day.

Not I.

Sorry, streaming music. It’s not you, it’s me.
