As the Oakland Athletics prepare to call Sutter Health Park home for the next three seasons, the ballpark has undergone a major AV upgrade to meet Major League Baseball standards.

GoVision LLC, based in Argyle, Texas, led the video display overhaul alongside Sacramento’s i5LED. The project centered on a new 10mm LED board in right-center field, measuring 75 feet, 7 inches wide by 31 feet, 6 inches high. The screen was built from the ground up, requiring new piers, columns and catwalks to support its installation.

“This was an extremely complex project from the very beginning — which is exactly the kind of challenge our team loves,” said Chris Curtis, founder and chairman of GoVision. “… We worked closely with i5LED to make certain that the centerfield display would look great both on TV and in fans’ cell phone photos.”

GoVision also repurposed the park’s previous centerfield display into a 195-foot-wide ribbon board in left field. The process involved disassembling the screen, reconfiguring the cabinets, and reinstalling it.

“We went the extra mile on the ribbon display to enable the team to squeeze extra life out of their existing LED products, while still meeting and exceeding the standards expected of a Major League ballpark,” Curtis said.

Two 4mm LED backstop displays — each measuring just over 8 feet wide — were also installed to support sponsor content.
