University of Central Florida Installs Sennheiser Ceiling Microphones to Improve Classroom Audio
The University of Central Florida has completed the installation of Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC 2) microphones across a range of learning and meeting spaces on its main campus, including combinable classrooms and a large conference room in Millican Hall.
UCF selected the ceiling-mounted microphones to address audio coverage challenges in larger or reconfigurable rooms, according to the university. The project was part of an effort to upgrade legacy systems to support improved audio clarity for lectures and group discussions.
Traditional microphone setups had presented issues with hardware clutter and complexity. In contrast, the TCC 2’s ceiling-mounted beamforming technology allows for broader coverage without requiring tabletop microphones or a large wireless footprint. The devices also integrate with UCF’s existing Crestron control systems.
Mike Ferry, assistant director of instructional technology at UCF, said the system’s unobtrusive design and performance were key benefits. “The TeamConnect Ceiling 2 delivers flawless audio and the product is discreet — nearly invisible — allowing users to focus on the meeting and not the technology,” he said.
The TCC 2 supports Dante and analog audio outputs, PoE, and integration with platforms including Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Additional features include talker-based camera tracking and customizable zone configurations.
