Audio Video Systems, Inc. Donates Computers to Wolftrap Elementary School

avs-logoChantilly, VA – May 22, 2013 – Local Chantilly business, Audio Video Systems, Inc. (AVS), recently donated 49 desktops, monitors and speakers to Wolftrap Elementary School in Vienna, VA.

The computers have been added to classrooms throughout the school to increase the number of machines in each classroom.  This will provide teachers the opportunity to use technology more frequently throughout their day.  The County Standards of Learning (SOL) Testing will now all be electronic and these desktops and computer labs will give the students the ability to practice and master online testing skills.

“On behalf of the students and staff at Wolftrap Elementary School I would like to thank you for your generous contribution,” said Teresa Khuluki, Principal of Wolftrap Elementary School. “The students will benefit from the new computers you donated both now and in future years.  In times of limited resources, contributions such as yours make an incredible difference in what is available to our students.”

Wolftrap Elementary School has a strong focus on technology and believes it will help shape a new vision for the future of its students.  Mathieu Campet, Wolftrap technology specialist, accepted AVS’ generous donation on behalf of the school.  The equipment will be an integral part of a program that he’s started focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) elements.

Campet said, “Students are already using technology every day.  If we can integrate those technologies into their everyday classroom opportunities then we are meeting our students at their learning level/needs.”

This was not the first technology related donation.  Just this past February Wolftrap Elementary School celebrated the opening of the $800,000 Candace Leyton Innovation Learning Lab, a gift from former student Chris Shumway.  The donation was made on behalf of Candace Leyton, Shumway’s former teacher at the school and who recently passed away from cancer.  The donation covered the cost of an additional building to hold the lab as well as the technology and materials within it.
