Women in AV/IT (WAVIT) announced the expansion of its board of directors with the appointment of Cheryl Walton and Rachael Hinds. Both bring extensive AV/IT industry experience and a commitment to advancing representation for women in the field.

“We’re lucky to have Cheryl and Rachael as the newest additions to the WAVIT board,” said Althea Ricketts, WAVIT president and vice president of corporate initiatives at Shure. “Cheryl brings over 25 years of AV experience and has already contributed greatly to WAVIT through her mentorship and committee leadership. Rachael, with her strong background in marketing leadership and passion for amplifying women’s voices, brings a fresh perspective that will strengthen our mission. Their energy, expertise, and commitment will be invaluable as we continue to enrich, educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of women.”

Walton is director of business development at Edge, where she has more than 25 years of AV industry experience. She serves as co-chair for WAVIT’s membership committee and participates in its mentorship program.

“Working with WAVIT has been a wonderful experience, an opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented and dedicated people in our industry,” Walton said. “Now as a board member, I am excited for the next chapter. My biggest focus is to work together with the members to make WAVIT even better than ever, continuing to break down barriers, encouraging more women to enter AV/IT, and encouraging more growth and visibility in our industry.”

Hinds is a senior marketing leader at Peerless-AV with more than a decade of experience in the AV/IT industry.

“Having started my AV/IT career straight out of college, I know how vital it is to have a strong community of women to look to for support, inspiration, and guidance,” Hinds said. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without that. I’m incredibly honored to join the WAVIT board and give back to the industry that’s shaped so much of my journey. As a senior marketing leader, I’m passionate about helping more women feel seen, supported, and empowered — and I’m excited to help WAVIT continue building that community.”
