TNDV Television Redesigns Aspiration Truck for Cinematic Production Workflows
TNDV Television is redefining mobile production with the launch of Aspiration 35, a revamped version of its 40-foot Aspiration truck built specifically for cinematic multi-camera productions. Developed in collaboration with dbV Rentals, Aspiration 35 is the first mobile production unit on the market equipped with ARRI Alexa 35 Live cameras. The truck delivers a complete cinematic workflow natively from a TV truck, blending film-quality imaging with live production infrastructure.
TNDV debuted Aspiration 35 at a special block party in Nashville, which featured hands-on demos, new product launches from local vendors like Elite Script (introducing its Jumbo Bright Teleprompter system) and activations by media partners such as the Cams Channel podcast.
“Our refreshed Aspiration 35 truck is more than just another upgrade,” said Nic Dugger, founder of TNDV. “It’s a leap into the future of what live production can look like when it embraces the art of cinema. The ARRI Alexa 35 has long been a top pick of DPs on many films. There are only one or two other trucks like this in the country, but Aspiration 35 is the first to feature Alexa 35 Live systems.”
As the first company to integrate the live multicam system into a mobile production unit, TNDV sees Aspiration 35 as the industry’s answer to filmmakers and high-end corporate clients who want the look of cinema in a scalable, broadcast-capable truck. While traditional trucks are engineered for 1080i and 60p content, Aspiration 35 is purpose-built to deliver cinematic aesthetics — featuring true 35mm sensors, 4K and 24p acquisition, shallow depth of field and more.
dbV Rentals, a Nashville-based rental house, provided the ARRI Alexa 35 Live cameras and worked closely with TNDV to develop a single-wire architecture and new base stations for the truck. The system can support up to 12 Alexa 35 Lives and is fully integrated with live production essentials, including return video, tally, intercom and remote camera shading. dbV Rentals is the first U.S. rental house to offer Alexa 35 Live systems.
The partnership also gives TNDV access to a wide range of cinematic lenses from ARRI, Canon and Fujinon. “The industry has made significant advances in lenses that deliver both cinematic quality and broadcast integration, especially with long-range zooms,” said Doug Bates, owner of dbV Rentals. “We’ve reached the point where multi-cam cinematic shoots offer clients the best of both worlds.”
Bates noted that even news departments are now exploring cinema-grade camera systems. “We’re offering camera packages that produce stunning images with simplified infrastructure — just one fiber cable for a cleaner workflow,” he said.
“For years, producers have been rigging handheld cinema-style cameras into trucks that weren’t built for them,” Dugger added. “Aspiration 35 is a purpose-built, native solution — SMPTE cable in, no extra hardware or cabling, full shading and tally and beautiful cinematic imagery without sacrificing production control.”
The launch of Aspiration 35 follows the recent revamp of TNDV’s Exclamation truck, which now includes a 12G video/audio ecosystem, hybrid fiber-copper backbone and 10GbE networking infrastructure. “With Aspiration 35, we’re adding a powerful new chapter to a mobile fleet of 11 trucks built for everything from 4K sports broadcasts to multi-camera theatrical events,” said Rob Devlin, president of TNDV.
