Savant announced that its latest software release, SavantOS 11.1, enables Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capabilities for Savant Power Storage systems. The update, developed in partnership with Virtual Peaker, allows Savant systems to dispatch stored energy during peak demand periods, supporting utilities while giving homeowners access to new rebate opportunities.

A VPP aggregates decentralized energy sources such as residential solar and battery storage, combining them to function as a collective power plant. During periods of high energy demand, VPP programs reduce strain on the grid by pulling from distributed storage resources. Participating homeowners are compensated by utilities for the energy they contribute, offering a cleaner and more resilient alternative to traditional coal-fired generation.

Savant Power Storage systems are now part of Green Mountain Power’s (GMP) Bring Your Own Device program. Savant’s Power Storage 20 and Power Storage 50 systems are approved under GMP’s program, which provides Vermont residents with upfront rebates of up to $10,500. On peak demand days, GMP coordinates energy sharing with enrolled customers to reduce both costs and carbon emissions.

Savant said the new integration will expand opportunities for collaboration with utilities nationwide, positioning its energy storage systems as a scalable solution for homeowners seeking both resilience and grid support.
