Samsung Acquires Liquavista
A few months after debuting its first flexible ePaper prototype displays, Liquavista BV (based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and spun out from Philips Research Labs in 2006) is being acquired by Samsung Electronics. Johan Feenstra is succeeding Guy Demuynck as the company CEO.
A pioneer in ePaper technology (displays for e-readers, mobile phones, media players and other mobile devices that use about 10 percent less battery power than extant displays), Liquavista’s ePaper displays will be manufactured in existing Samsung LCD production lines after some modifications.
