Restoring My CTS Confidence & Becoming a MRS.
Today is Wednesday. Today is a great day.
Why?
First: Because I JUST COMPLETED MY “Essentials of AV Technology” InfoComm Academy Class! That’s right, AV ladies and gents. For those of you that know what that is, it’s the first step towards becoming CTS certified. WOOT WOOT!
Now, I know this is something that happens all the time. Many people in the industry take this class and they complete it and it’s no big deal.
But here’s why it’s a big deal for me: I am terrible at test-taking and I do not learn by reading information on a computer screen. I mean, I took the SAT three times to get above 1000. Pathetic, I know.
And you see the thing is, you can go through the whole class, take every section test, and whatnot but still not “complete” the class. In order to “complete” the class and get your handy-dandy e-mailed certificate (picture!), you have to answer a question CORRECTLY for every. single. lesson. in the course. There are 273 total lessons. That’s 273 total correct answers. Not 270. Not 200. But 273. 100 for 100. Yeah.
Now, I’ll be honest… I got a TON wrong to start off with, but I kept at it, kept looking over my notes, until I got them ALL RIGHT.WOOP WOOP!
I would also say it was difficult for me because the technical side of technology (does that make sense?) is not my strong suit. Customer service? Check. Relationships? Check. The section on photography? Check. But coaxial cables and Ohm’s law? Not so much. Radio frequencies? Yeah, not so much.
Numbers hurt my head. I see them and my brain has a spasm or something. Seriously. I’m BAD. Really bad with numbers.
Words? Now I got those under control.
Now, the battle has not fully been won yet, my AV friends. I still have to take the CTS exam and pass it. But my confidence has totally been restored. I can do this! So, now I just gotta study. There’s a lot of studying to do, but I know I can do it.
Here’s to passing my CTS!!
Oh, I almost forgot… the other reason I’m excited today? Today’s my last day at work before I become… a MRS. That’s right! I’m getting married on SATURDAY! Holy snap! Who’s excited?! This guy. John is my best friend and I seriously can’t wait to spend every day for the rest of my life with my best friend. It’s gonna be tough, it’s gonna be challenging, but I know it’s gonna be awesome.
Plus, I can’t wait to wear these puppies every day:
Here’s to life!
Happy Wednesday!
