Teams from PPDS, TP Vision, MMD Monitors and Displays and AOC joined 35,000 participants in this year’s Dam tot Damloop, raising funds for the Eye Care Foundation as part of the companies’ TPV Cares initiative. The 10-mile race, held Sept. 21, started in Amsterdam and finished in Zaandam.

This marks the second year the group has supported the Amsterdam-based charity, which works to prevent and treat avoidable blindness in developing countries including Nepal, Cambodia, Ecuador and Tanzania. According to the World Health Organization, more than 2.2 billion people worldwide live with near or distance vision impairment.

The Eye Care Foundation reports it has provided more than 7.4 million eye screenings, 805,000 surgeries, and 63,000 pairs of eyeglasses worldwide. Funds raised through events like the Dam tot Damloop contribute to expanding these services.

“Running through the IJ Tunnel is always a highlight, but the real reward is supporting such an important cause alongside colleagues,” said Marion Chaignon, senior marketing manager EMEA at PPDS, who took part in the race.

Stefan van Sabben, global CSR and sustainability lead at PPDS, added: “Sustaining long-term partnerships with charities such as the Eye Care Foundation is incredibly important to us. These relationships allow us to create real, lasting impact.”
