LG Electronics has introduced a new OPS (Open Pluggable Specification) Chromebox designed specifically for the LG CreateBoard, effectively transforming the interactive flat panel display into a large-format ChromeOS device.

The LG Chromebox OPS integrates directly into the CreateBoard’s OPS slot and allows educators to access a wide range of tools within ChromeOS and Google for Education. According to LG, the device is built with security in mind, featuring verified boot, a dedicated security chip and automatic system updates — including BIOS and UEFI firmware updates, which may require administrative management depending on the model.

User data is automatically encrypted by ChromeOS, with encryption keys secured at the hardware level by the device’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

Beyond Google for Education integration, the LG Chromebox OPS also supports Windows virtual machines through Google Play, Android apps and the Linux development environment. IT administrators can also leverage features such as zero-touch enrollment, forced re-enrollment, Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) and OS rollback.

LG says the new Chromebox is aimed at enhancing classroom technology by bringing the full power of ChromeOS to the CreateBoard, helping schools and educators better support student learning outcomes.
