L-Acoustics Wins Legal Battles Against Counterfeiters in Europe, Citing Safety Concerns

L-Acoustics has won legal actions in Germany and Norway against companies found using counterfeit versions of its professional audio products, citing serious safety concerns and the need to protect its intellectual property.
In Germany, a court ruled against a rental company using fake Kara loudspeakers, rejecting its defense and prohibiting future use of counterfeit gear. The ruling also compelled the company to disclose the origin of the products, aiding broader investigations.
“L-Acoustics extends its appreciation to the German court for this significant ruling,” said Laurent Ostojski, senior legal counsel at L-Acoustics. “This judgement not only protects our intellectual property but also helps maintain the integrity of the professional audio market.”
In Norway, a rental company offering counterfeit equipment for student events admitted wrongdoing, paid damages and canceled further orders from China. L-Acoustics cited risk to public safety, as the counterfeit products lacked structural integrity and failed during use.
Seized products were sent to the company’s headquarters for analysis and have been recycled through certified European e-waste programs.
“These cases highlight our dual commitment to safety and market integrity,” Ostojski said. “The counterfeit products not only infringe on our intellectual property but present a real danger to unsuspecting audiences and venue operators.”
