Extron has introduced the UCS SW 313, an eight-port presentation switcher designed for unified communications and collaboration (UCC) environments. Featuring three inputs—one USB-C and two HDMI—the device supports multiple AV sources, while five USB device ports enable connectivity for peripherals such as USB cameras and microphones at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The USB-C input delivers video, audio, and USB data, along with 60 watts of power for laptop charging. The HDMI output supports resolutions up to 4K/60 for high-quality presentations on room displays.

To streamline AV management, the UCS SW 313 includes auto-switching capabilities that can prioritize inputs automatically or be programmed for specific configurations. It supports Ethernet control, including RS-232 integration with local displays, reducing the need for user interaction with AV hardware or external control systems. The switcher is designed to integrate AV sources and USB cameras seamlessly into conference rooms, meeting spaces and other collaborative environments using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

For setups requiring independent switching of USB devices and AV inputs, the UCS SW 313 offers USB breakaway switching. This feature allows HDMI video and audio to be routed separately from the USB data bus. For example, a USB camera or microphone can remain connected to a dedicated in-room computer, while video from other inputs is displayed on the room’s monitor. This flexibility is ideal for users who may want to utilize USB peripherals separately from video and audio signals.

The switcher also simplifies user control through Extron’s Show Me cables or Retractors, which can be housed in Cable Cubby or AVEdge table-mounted enclosures. Users can connect their laptops via a Show Me cable and press the Share Button to present content, eliminating the need for a dedicated control system, button panel, or touch panel in Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM) setups.

With its advanced switching capabilities, high-speed USB connectivity, and user-friendly control options, the UCS SW 313 is positioned as a powerful solution for modern meeting spaces, enhancing collaboration and flexibility in UCC environments.
