Christie laser projectors are driving an immersive, interactive holiday attraction at Planet Ice Bristol in England, delivering projection-mapped environments designed to engage families throughout the seasonal experience.

At “Enchanted Christmas,” Christie partner Attraktion! installed 10 Christie Captiva DWU500S 1DLP ultra short throw projectors to display interactive content across floors, ceilings and scenic elements. The installation transforms multiple rooms within the venue into themed environments that guide visitors through a holiday-themed storyline.

The hour-long attraction begins with guests checking in and receiving an elf alter ego, followed by a briefing on their mission to save Christmas at the North Pole. Visitors then move through a series of interactive stations featuring games, global holiday traditions, music and encounters with seasonal characters.

In the “Gift Express” room, three walls are transformed into an interactive canvas where children catch flying gifts and wrap them as part of the experience. In another area called the “Twinkle Studio,” the projectors display children’s decorated presents and ornaments as interactive projections that respond to touch. Additional scenes include a snowball fight with Jack Frost, a sleigh ride with Santa and a short virtual reality segment at the conclusion of the experience.

Attraktion! completed the technical build on the first floor above Planet Ice Bristol’s main ice pad, reusing the footprint of a previous installation, the “Jurassic Immersive Experience.” The team redesigned and recalibrated the content to fit the Christmas storyline while mounting the projectors discreetly above exhibits. Media servers manage playback, with Unity and Unreal Engine supporting interactive elements alongside motion-tracking sensors.

“We selected Christie projectors for their compact design, modularity, very short throw, and dependable performance, which are essential for our immersive installation,” said Markus Beyr, CEO of Attraktion! “The response in Bristol has been overwhelmingly positive, as this type of attraction is unique in England, and we’re excited to see the response to ‘Enchanted Christmas.’ The technology has enabled us to deliver a seamless experience.”

Christie said its Captiva DWU500S projectors are designed for immersive environments where space is limited and precise projection mapping is required. The company said the Bristol installation demonstrates how laser projection can support interactive, family-oriented attractions with high visual impact.
