Chowmainsoft announced the release of its UniFi driver for Control4, introducing the first-ever third-party solution to deliver recorded video playback directly on Control4 touchscreens and mobile apps. This enables users to review UniFi Protect recordings seamlessly within Control4, marking a significant milestone in home automation and surveillance integration.

The UniFi driver provides deep integration between Control4 systems and the UniFi ecosystem, including Protect cameras, sensors, viewport, routers, access points, switches, and network site management—all under a single licence. This creates a unified, cost-effective solution for dealers and end users.

At the heart of this release is a powerful new capability: users can access a complete history of events from UniFi Protect, and now, for the first time on a third-party device, view image snapshots as well as play back recorded video from the NVR within Control4’s native interfaces. This industry-first feature combines real-time monitoring with retrospective event review, elevating system visibility and control to an entirely new level.

Beyond video playback, the driver supports advanced camera functions such as live streaming, snapshots, PTZ control, and AI-based detection events including licence plate and face recognition. Sensor support extends the system with motion detection, temperature and humidity monitoring, and door status tracking. On the networking side, Control4 users gain unprecedented functionality including the ability to block or unblock network devices, authorise guests, manage hotspot vouchers, reboot network hardware, power cycle PoE ports, and view detailed device information—all through intuitive Control4 interfaces.
