Carousel Digital Signage announced media player support for Samsung commercial displays built on the Samsung Smart Signage Platform (SSSP) with the Tizen operating system. This enables AV integrators and IT teams to deploy digital signage across millions of Samsung commercial TVs already in use —nfrom enterprise lobbies to school classrooms — without the need for external media players.

Samsung is the global leader in professional displays, with a 33% market share and more than 2 million signage units sold in 2023. North America accounts for roughly one-third of the world’s digital signage market. By leveraging Samsung’s embedded system-on-chip (SoC) platform, Carousel now extends its reach to this vast installed base of screens, allowing customers to “keep [their] audience informed and connected” using existing Samsung panels.

SSSP displays include built-in SoC hardware that can run apps like Carousel Cloud Player directly on the screen — no external PC or media box required. These SoC-equipped signage panels “can now be used as digital signage media players, negating the need for external players,” according to Samsung. This reduces the cost and complexity of deployments. Integrators simply mount the display and power it on. Carousel’s app runs natively on the Samsung Tizen OS, transforming any supported display into a Carousel endpoint capable of playing cloud-based content.

Carousel Cloud Player can be installed on Samsung Tizen displays using standard deployment methods, including Samsung’s Tizen Business Manager for large-scale rollouts. Tizen Business Manager, introduced for devices from 2022 onward, is a free Samsung portal that allows administrators to register fleets of screens and remotely push apps and configurations. Through this portal, integrators can upload the Carousel app to many displays at once. After deployment, users launch the app on each TV and enter an activation code in the Carousel Cloud platform to link that display to its content.
