Atomos Drops StudioSonic Shotgun Mic with USB-C Connectivity
Atomos has introduced the StudioSonic Shotgun Mic, a compact shotgun microphone with both wireless and wired operation options. The dual-mode design offers wireless operation over 2.4 GHz or a direct USB-C digital audio connection using Atomos’ locking USB-C connector, providing a secure, professional-grade link to cameras, monitors and computers.
The StudioSonic Shotgun Mic supports 48kHz/24-bit audio and features a supercardioid design that isolates voices with precision, even in noisy environments. Its internal USB-C rechargeable battery powers the mic for approximately seven to eight hours in wireless mode and up to 50 hours in wired mode. The mic includes both analog and digital outputs, with the USB-C output designed for easy connection to computers, making it ideal for podcasts and live streaming.
The microphone features a 75 Hz low-cut filter, a 150 Hz high-cut filter to minimize unwanted noise, a high-frequency boost for improved clarity and manual gain control for precise adjustments. An integrated OLED screen provides real-time monitoring for sound quality confidence. The mic is supplied with a 2.4 GHz receiver, delivering latency of less than 20 ms and a working range of up to 100 meters line of sight and up to 20 meters in busy environments.
The StudioSonic is built with a shielded, all-metal body for durability in rugged field environments. The USB-C connection uses the same locking mechanism found in other Atomos products such as the Shinobi II and Ninja Phone.
