Xthings has announced the Ulticam IQ V2, a 4K Power-over-Ethernet camera that combines on-device object detection with Google Gemini cloud intelligence and support for the Matter 1.5 smart home standard. The company says the new model expands its open-ecosystem approach, offering broad compatibility across residential and professional environments without requiring subscriptions.

“Ulticam IQ V2 represents the next step in open, intelligent security,” said Raj Sundar, senior director of product management at Xthings. “With the release of Matter 1.5, cameras can now speak the universal smart home language, and we’re proud to bring that breakthrough to life through Ulticam IQ V2. The camera performs object detection at the edge for real-time awareness, while Gemini AI delivers rich scene analysis and event summaries in the cloud.”

The camera features edge-based detection for people, vehicles, pets, packages, fire and smoke, as well as crying-sound alerts and vehicle classification. Gemini intelligence adds natural-language search for recorded events, daily summaries, incident playback that stitches related clips, risk analysis and cross-camera searching across all cameras at a property. Additional behavioral analytics and vehicle attribute analysis are expected in future updates.

Ulticam IQ V2 supports Matter 1.5 and ONVIF Profile T, making it compatible with consumer smart-home ecosystems and enterprise-grade systems. Connectivity includes PoE via RJ45, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, Bluetooth LE 5.0 and optional LTE fallback. The camera records 4K UHD video with HDR and enhanced low-light performance and includes a 160-degree field of view, infrared night vision up to 10 meters, two-way audio, an integrated siren and a spotlight for deterrence. It is rated for indoor and outdoor use in temperatures from –4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Xthings offers lifetime free rolling seven-day cloud storage and supports SD cards up to 512GB for local redundancy. All streams and recordings are encrypted end to end. Unlike earlier models, the IQ V2 does not include eMMC storage, instead relying on cloud and optional SD recording.

Ulticam IQ V2 will be available at the end of December 2025 through ulticam.com and Amazon, starting at $199.
