URSA Expands Into Live Events Market With Performance Pouches
URSA, a U.K.-based manufacturer of transmitter and receiver placement products for film and television, is entering the live events and theatrical markets with its new Performance Pouch range.
Founded in 2015 by production sound mixer Simon Bysshe and costume designer Laura K. Smith, URSA has built a reputation for ready-made solutions to secure microphones and related equipment on set. The Performance Pouches are designed to address the growing use of radio microphones, trackers and in-ear monitors in theater, which can place additional demands on costume departments.
The pouches, made from URSA’s proprietary fabrics, are intended as durable, reusable alternatives to custom-built options. They are available in multiple sizes and colors, and can be integrated with in-house belts.
“DIY solutions for pouches and straps was once the norm for film and TV too, often leading to pressure being put on costume departments to deliver multiple solutions,” Bysshe said. “URSA was born out of our desire to do things better, and now we’re ready to offer bespoke, affordable solutions for the theater and live industries.”
URSA manufactures all its products in the United Kingdom, which the company says allows for short lead times and responsiveness to user feedback. The Performance Pouch range was developed in consultation with professionals from the National Theatre and West End productions.
The products will debut at PLASA London 2025, where visitors can see the full range and meet the design team.
