MultiDyne Establishes New HammerHead Electronics Division and Fiber Lab in Advance of 2017 NAB Show
Hauppauge, NY, April 20, 2017 — MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems today announces two new strategic business initiatives that will provide its global broadcast, production and digital cinema customers with a multitude of options to purchase complete fiber transport solutions. This includes a new online and call-in distribution business, HammerHead Electronics, which will focus on accessories and support products; and the MultiDyne Fiber Lab, which will manufacture, assemble and quality-assure SMPTE and tactical cables in house. Both ventures will operate from MultiDyne’s Long Island headquarters.
To further support both businesses, MultiDyne has hired industry veteran Mark Bachmore, who spent 13 years at Chyron and recently served as Director of Sales for Broadcast Pix, to help manage sales, service and day-to-day sales operations. Mark reports to MultiDyne COO Charlie Lamberti, who oversees all operations.
HammerHead provides MultiDyne customers with a one-stop shop for all accessories related to fiber transport and signal conversion, including batteries, connectors, tripods, optical modules, copper cables and SFPs. Additionally, all SMPTE and tactical fiber cables created, assembled and tested in the MultiDyne Fiber Lab will be available through the HammerHead business.
“HammerHead will offer a very concise and specific product mix in response to customer requests MultiDyne has and continues to receive,” said Frank Jachetta, president of MultiDyne and HammerHead Electronics. “Establishing HammerHead as a separate business allows the MultiDyne brand to remain laser-focused on innovations for fiber transport, and continue development of new camera-back systems, throwdowns and modular transmitters and receivers for studio and field production. It’s important for HammerHead to stand alone as a distributor that can supplement sales of traditional MultiDyne fiber products sold both directly and through our global network of dealers. HammerHead will also not compete with MultiDyne resellers in any way; in fact, we intend to supply our resellers where necessary, and protect and provide incentives toward the mutual benefit of project creation.”
The MultiDyne Fiber Lab marks a significant evolution for a company that understands the challenges of fiber cable termination work. In addition to SMPTE 304 and 305 (as well as tactical) cables, a big part of the business’ strategy will be, to leverage more mundane assemblies including LC-Duplex and APC patches.
Jachetta adds, “HammerHead and the MultiDyne Fiber Lab represent a natural progression for MultiDyne as an enterprise because they literally connect into everything we traditionally offer and specialize in for our customers. Working closely with Mark and other team members, we anticipate an exciting future for both businesses that will solve problems and drive new innovations industry-wide.”
MultiDyne will unveil the HammerHead Electronics business and branding—as well as select cables and accessories immediately available through the Fiber Lab—next week at the 2017 NAB Show. MultiDyne will exhibit at Booth C5109.
