Matrox Video announced that NetOn.Live has integrated Matrox ORIGIN Fabric into its LiveOS platform, enabling broadcasters to scale productions on-premises, in hybrid workflows or in the cloud.

LiveOS is a software-based, ST 2110-native platform for local, remote and decentralized live media production. By incorporating ORIGIN Fabric, LiveOS can support asynchronous transfers of media between servers and distributed applications over standard IP networks. This allows broadcasters to move beyond the limitations of single-server resources and share workloads across multiple servers without latency issues.

ORIGIN Fabric is part of the Matrox ORIGIN framework, recently introduced as a standalone C++ SDK. It provides asynchronous, high-performance media and data exchange using the most efficient transport available, making it suitable for developers, OEMs and platform providers scaling applications or integrating into ST 2110 workflows in both public and private cloud environments.

LiveOS converts dedicated broadcast hardware — such as production control rooms, OB trucks, ingest centers and MCRs — into modular software components. With ORIGIN Fabric as the transport backbone, those components communicate seamlessly across servers and availability zones. The technology also supports the European Broadcasting Union’s Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) concept and integrates with the EBU’s Media eXchange Layer (MXL) SDK, allowing applications on the same compute instance to share content efficiently.
