JVC TV Sponsors Videogame History Exhibit at SXSW 2015
IRVINE, CA, February 19, 2015 – AmTRAN Video Corp., a leader in HD and Ultra HD TV design and manufacturing that licenses the JVC TV brand for
the North American market, will sponsor the Videogame History Museum exhibit at the 2015 SXSW Gaming Conference and Expo in Austin, Texas from
Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15.
The company will provide the museum with more than a dozen JVC HD and Ultra-HDTVs so that attendees can watch and play a collection of legendary video games from the past 25-plus years. Located in Room 1 of the Palmer Events Center at 900 Barton Springs Road, the exhibit will be open to the
public with free Guest Pass wristbands (see Guestpass.sxsw.com for
details) from 12:00-8:00 PM daily.
“The Videogame History Museum sponsorship represents the perfect match for
JVC TV,” said Drew Pragliola, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
at AmTRAN Video Corp. “It’s an opportunity to showcase our latest models
to a highly influential audience from around the country – the kind of
audience that really appreciates quality displays.”
“Having JVC TV on board means that our exhibit will be one of the standout
attractions at the Expo” said Sean Kelly, Director and Co-Founder of the
Videogame History Museum. “We plan on featuring one of JVC’s amazing 85”
UHD TVs for our popular Super Smash Bros ‘pick-up’ game that will be
running throughout the show.”
The 85” DM85UXR Ultra HD (4K) display incorporates direct LED backlight
and 10-bit color, an innovation that greatly enhances dynamic contrast,
delivering the most precise color reproduction on the market. This is made
possible by an unrivaled 64 zones of local dimming, which dynamically
adjusts backlighting scene-by-scene to assure the deep blacks and
brilliant details of today’s digital content. Even the most devoted HDTV
fans are continually astounded by UHD’s 3840 x 2160 resolution and
incomparable picture quality. And the DM85UXR has a number of other
valuable innovations to maximize the user/viewer experience. These include
built-in Wi-Fi for seamless web surfing, XinemaSound 3D for audio that
rivals leading soundbars, and a handy double-sided remote with full QWERTY
keypad, enabling much faster text searches than common virtual keypads.
The Videogame History Museum was founded in 2009 by John Hardie, Sean
Kelly, and Joe Santulli, the creators of the Classic Gaming Expo. It was
established to document, preserve, and archive the history of the video
game industry.
The museum evolved from an on-going historical exhibit at the world-famous
Classic Gaming Expo. The collection includes more than 20,000 items, and
highlights from it have been on display at previous SXSW shows as well as
other events.
The Videogame History Museum currently does traveling historical videogame
exhibits across the country at the industry’s largest events. The exhibit
has been seen and experienced by millions over the course of ten-plus
years at shows such as E3, DICE, GDC, GDC Next, Comikaze, PAX, and SXSW.
At shows where people regularly wait hours for a five minute preview of an
upcoming game, the Videogame History Museum exhibit provides a welcome
respite and opportunity to actually sit down and play some of the most
popular – or even most obscure – games ever produced.
Construction is currently underway in Frisco, Texas to build a permanent
home for ever-growing Videogame History Museum archive which is the
largest collection of hardware, software, documentation and memorabilia in
the world.
