Fibaro expand virtual device database to incorporate HDanywhere products
Malvern and London (UK), October 31, 2014 — Earlier in 2014, Fibaro launched in the UK with their Home Centre Lite and Home Centre 2 offering homeowners the ability to communicate with and manage up to 230 connected devices using wireless Z-Wave protocol.
The allure of Fibaro for homeowners and custom installers is three-fold; the systems are affordable (HCL retails at £249.00 and Home Centre 2 £499.00), they require no cabling to be installed as part of the setup process (thanks to Z Wave wireless mesh technology), and can be easily expanded through purchasing additional modules, which Fibaro promote as taking around three minutes to install per device. Modules currently available include dimmers, single and dual relay switches, RGBW controllers, a roller shutter module, flood and motion sensors, smoke sensors and universal sensors. The Fibaro Home Centre Lite or Home Centre 2 hub is effectively the central processor for the system. This connects to a router via an Ethernet port. Modules and sensors can then be simply added via a web interface.
Team members from HDanywhere, the British brand of video distribution and signal management products, and Fibaro UK met at this year’s CEDIA Region 1 Awards, where they were nominated in the same category for Best Innovative Product. Daniel Adams, Director of Technical at HDanywhere (UK), commented that he was “extremely impressed by Fibaro overall and realised that there was a definite crossover between our companies, with both of us using features like web-interfaces to make our products more manageable and intuitive to administer for installers and end-users alike.”
He continued “At that point, Fibaro hadn’t expanded their virtual device database to provide support for video distribution hardware, so I was keen that HDanywhere’s Modular and mHub ranges be the first video matrices supported by Fibaro systems.”
Dillan Pattni, Head of Marketing at HDanywhere, also happened to win a Home Centre Lite system at the CEDIA Awards’ charity raffle for children’s charity Together for Short Lives , meaning that there was some Fibaro home automation kit donated straight to HDanywhere’s labs.
“We’re huge fans of HDanywhere’s Modular video matrices” comments Daniel Knight, Technical Director at Fibaro UK. “It has everything from striking looks, CEC support and the simple yet extensive control and feedback features on offer. So simple in fact that we were able to deploy full 2-way drivers in a matter of minutes, setting a bit of record amongst the tech team!”
