The Caldwell County School System has transformed its district boardroom into a multipurpose meeting and training space, thanks to a fully integrated audiovisual system powered by Extron’s NAV Pro AV-over-IP platform.

Designed and installed by the district’s internal IT/AV team, the upgraded room features mobile modular furniture, streaming capabilities, and eight AV-enabled workstations. The space is in near-constant use, hosting not only monthly school board meetings, but also community forums, teacher training sessions, and even K–12 classes.

Each workstation includes a display, PC, Extron NAV encoder and scaling decoder, and a TouchLink Pro touchpanel. ShareLink Pro systems enable wireless sharing from personal devices. A unique color-coding system—indicated by multicolor LED strips—shows which station is currently displaying content and where the content originated. The room’s displays also broadcast board meeting presentations and agendas to both in-person attendees and virtual viewers.

“People from other North Carolina school districts and neighboring states have attended meetings in this room, and they are definitely impressed,” said Cody Greene, technology director at Caldwell County School System. “The AV system is rock solid in continuous day-to-day operation, and the only maintenance performed has been planned upgrades and operator interface changes.”

The AV-over-IP system allows each station to operate independently or share content across stations and online. According to the district, the integration of Extron solutions has allowed for a highly flexible, future-ready space that supports both collaborative learning and public communication.
