Happy Thursday and happy November, dear readers! We hope the end of your October was just as busy and productive as ours was. You may have heard the rumors by now, but in case you haven't, I'm a new(ish) member of the rAVe [PUBS] team. And something I've found interesting is how quickly I've begun to recognize the ProAV products in the world around me. For a friend's birthday last week, a few of us went to a local farm for hayrides, s'mores and a free outdoor movie screening. During the movie, I left my friends to look around for 20 minutes to see if I could find out who made the projector the farm used for the film (I couldn't).
Another example: a friend of mine is going to a concert this week, and I made sure to tell her to 1) listen carefully to the audio quality of the speakers and, if it sounds good, 2) report back with pictures and tell me who makes their equipment.
Anyways, I gave you these examples to let you know I am looking forward to my transformation into a full-fledged #AVtweep. Because #AVisLIFE, right?
For today's newsletter, we have TONS of product news for you: everything from a new Tascam Micro Audio Recorder to the latest news on the Samsung Flip 2. We also have columns on how 5G is affecting and will continue to affect the AV industry, and how allowing for small failures in our industry culture can lead to significant success later.
'Failing faster' may seem counter-intuitive because the idea of failing evokes strong, negative emotional responses. And failure is often seen as something to be avoided, not accelerated. Yet research from Stanford, the University of Colorado, and Tel Aviv University all point to the value of learning from failing fast in rapidly changing markets such as the church market in the audiovisual space.
The arrival of 5G is transforming technology and our AV industry. You can barely scan your News Feed or watch television without some type of news or advertisement about 5G and its impending impact on your life. And while this whole 5G thing sounds like amazing hype, I’ve found that many of our customers and my colleagues aren’t certain of what it is and how it actually will affect their lives and our industry.
